Taylored Expressions October Sneak Peeks: Celebrate the Season!

Hello Crafty Friends! I'm back with more Taylored Expressions October sneak peeks! New products will be released on Thursday, October 4.

Today's projects feature Peace, Love, & Cocktails and the Scandinavian Christmas Background.

My first card is a non-standard size (finished product is 7.5" x 4.5") using Peace, Love & Cocktails. This set has 6 festive beverage images that are really fun to color. First I was going to to some pattern stamping to create my own patterned paper, then I decided instead to line up all of the images across my card front. This is the reason for the odd size of the card.

I started by lining up all of the images inside of my Misti stamping tool. This allowed me to make sure they were straight and also figure out the placement of my sentiment as I decided not to cover up any of the images. Once the images were stamped in Oreo ink, I colored them with Copic markers. There is also a coordinating die set for these images, but I did not use it on this card.

The sentiment Celebrate the Season is one of four sentiments included along with the images. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and heat set with white embossing powder. The strip was then cut and popped up with some foam tape.

Here's a look at the inside of the card. I colored an additional image of the wine bottle and instead of using the coordinating dies, I fussy cut it out as I didn't want any white showing around the sides of the bottle. I also added one of the sentiments.

Celebrate the Season Supplies:

Many of us like to send handmade cards out at Christmas, but it is also a time we send out many cards, so it's nice to be able to quickly create cards or mass produce sets of cards. My next project is a set of cards using the Scandinavian Christmas Background stamp. This stamp was so fun to emboss and instantly create a fun and beautiful background that can stand on its own.

Here's a collage of all four cards that I made. My cards aren't identical, though they are very similar. I used new cardstock in the colors of Blueberry (top left), Sea Salt (top right) and Cilantro (bottom right). The fourth card (bottom left) uses our white cardstock, Sugar Cube. For each card, I stamped the background stamp using Versamark ink and heat set using the new Diamond embossing powder. They are all sparkly in real life, though it's hard to see the detail in the photos, especially on the lighter cardstock.

For the Blueberry version, I paired it with silver. I die cut the Merry Script out of silver foil cardstock and the Merry Script Backer uses the shimmery Sugar Coated wool designer felt. Christmas was stamped using Blueberry ink and Make it Merry. Make it Merry is a petite stamp set that coordinates with both the Merry Script dies.

The card below is the same as the one above except that it uses Cilantro cardstock and ink.

The final two cards feature Sea Salt cardstock and a red and gold color scheme. I used Gold foil cardstock to matte the embossed background and also to die cut the Merry Script. The Merry Script Backer was die cut out of A Cherry on Top designer felt. Though I did not use it in my project, we are also releasing Sea Salt ink, which will stamp a perfect light image for no-line coloring techniques.

The version above uses Sea Salt cardstock and the one below is in Sugar Cube. You can see a subtle difference between the two. "Make it" is also from Make it Merry and was embossed with white embossing powder onto Cherry Pop cardstock and popped up with foam tape.

I also wanted to show the inside of one of the cards, which includes the new Gift Card Pop Up die. I'm often giving gift cards, so I'm always looking for creative ways to include one on or inside a card. This one fits inside the card and when you open it, you can see the gift card as it "pops up". I added a strip of gold foil cardstock on the top of the pop up to tie in with all the gold on the outside of the card as well as a sentiment from Simply Said - Christmas.
