JustRite Friday Challenge -- Book Mark It!

Good morning and Happy Friday! Today I have a project for the JustRite Friday Challenge (JRC_023), Book Mark It! My daughter, Sabrina, has just started reading, and since DH and I are avid readers (when we can find the time), we want to encourage her to read as much as possible. It's always more fun to read when you have a pretty bookmark, right?! I used this SCS tutorial to make a Bookmark card for her.

I started by making my own patterned paper by randomly stamping the large daisy from JustRite My Garden Borders & Centers (JB-09705). Sabrina loves pink, so this is my attempt at coloring pink shaded gerbera daisies. I didn't want to cover up all of the daisies, so I added my sentiment to the top (a Mish tent topper card). The sentiment "Follow Your Dreams" is part of the new JustRite release, All Occasion Nested Sentiments & Verse (JB-09210) and the Clear Horizontal Stamper (JB-09520). I just love the new stamper -- it makes stamping so much easier (you can get a better idea of where you are stamping without needing a stamp positioner AND it's very comfortable to use)!

Here's a look at the inside of the card. The bookmark detaches. The tutorial uses the Xyron Creatopia to create a perforated edge. You could also use a perforated blade if your paper trimmer has one. I couldn't find mine, so I scored the edge and added a line of piercing over the fold to create my "perforated" edge. I kept the bookmark simple by embossing the white background with the Cuttlebug Typeset embossing folder. I purposely positioned it so that the "S" (for Sabrina) would subtley appear at the top. I cut out one of the daisies that I colored and added it with dimensionals. A little dyed seam binding ribbon, pearls and stitching finish off the project.

For more Book Mark It inspiration, please visit the JustRite Inspiration blog. You have until next Thursday, June 24 @ 9 AM CST to make your project and link it on the blog. I can't wait to see your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!
