Fall Teacher Gifts

I'm actually getting a head start on teacher gifts this year. I've made a few in advance (which never happens as I'm usually scrambling at the last minute to pull something fun together). This is their "fall" gift.

Instead of cards, I decided to make them a covered notepad holder. I made these in the spring for Sabrina's pre-school teachers and they were a hit, so I decided they would be a fun gift for her Kindergarten teachers, too. After all, who doesn't like pretty notebooks? The great idea and template came from Debbie Olson in her post here. Even though Debbie's post mentions that these notepads are no longer available at WalMart, I recently found them at mine, so it must depend on where you are. I just modified her template to accommodate my notepads (they are 3" x 5"). Each holder is made out of double-sided patterned cardstock (love this!) and I covered the top of each notepad with a coordinating piece. There is a pocket on each side of the notebook -- you can slip receipts, stamps, etc. in the left side and the notepad just slips into the right side. I even included a spare notepad! Debbie included a matching pen, but I had some difficulty getting the thicker cardstock inside the RSVP pens, so I decided to skip the pens this time around. I used scraps to make a very simple matching card. Here is each individual ensemble and a peek inside the holder:

Cardstock: CTMH; Patterned Paper: My Minds Eye, Creative Imaginations (center project); Monogram Stamps: Technique Tuesday; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Cuttlebug embossing folder; corner rounder; scallop scissors; circle punches; twill ribbon (PTI).
