Music Therapists Rock!

Hello! How was your weekend? I spent more time in my happy place (aka my craft room) and made this card for Brina's music therapist. We doubled up on music therapy sessions over the summer, and it turned out to be a really good thing. In addition to singing and playing a variety of fun instruments, she is also learning to play guitar.

I played around with some Ranger Distress Oxide inks (Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean) to try a technique using my Gel Press plate and Bristol paper. I ended up making a mess and not really liking the end result, so when the ink was still wet, I used a wet paintbrush to move the color around more. I will try the technique again some time when I have more time (and don't mind getting messy!).

Once the background was dry, I stamped the Taylored Expressions Musical Background stamp with Versamark ink, sprinkled on some sparkly embossing powder and heat set it. In real life it is really sparkly. I love how you can see the musical notes, yet it is still subtle.

I die cut the panel using Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and added it to my card base with foam tape. It was my first time using Bristol paper, and I liked that it held up after using the Oxide inks, water and heat embossing with minimal warping.

The sentiment is from Small Packages and was stamped and die cut with Stitched Banner Stacklets. I wanted to keep the overall card simple, so I just wrapped some hemp cord and attached it under the banner.

I hope you have a great week! Thanks so much for stopping by!
