Hello! Today is my DD, Sabrina's birthday! It is hard to believe that she is already 7...sigh... I decided to make her birthday card and play along in a couple of challenges. My layout is from CPS sketch 166 which is a fun clean and simple sketch with many possibilities for interpretation. Since JustRite Stampers is sponsoring this week, I thought I'd give my JR stamps some love. This also is for the JustRite Friday Challenge, JRC_018, which is sponsored by Spellbinders and the theme is Kids Time.
Now, normally I wouldn't have chosen to create a card for Sabrina with a monkey on it, but I just couldn't resist this cute image from the JustRite Let's Celebrate Decorative Border & Center Set. For several weeks now, Sabrina has been eating a piece of banana bread every morning for breakfast. There are only a couple of pieces left (I always make 2 loaves, slice them up and freeze the pieces so they stay fresh), and I have some really ripe bananas waiting to be used. I first colored the banana to look like my bananas (you know how they get really brown and spotted when they are ripe?), but when I showed DH, he said that I should just keep them yellow... I "cleaned" them up a little, so the one on the monkey's head is just starting to ripen.
I first stamped the Happy Birthday border, then I used 2 Spellbinders Nestabilities Square dies to cut out a frame. I then popped the frame up on a Dark Chocolate mat. I colored the monkey and banana with Copic markers, colored an extra banana and cut them all out. The monkey is attached with foam tape and so is the banana. All of these layers are on top of a Spellbinders Big Scalloped Square. Here's a detail shot:
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
