Happy Birthday to Uncle Ron!
Sabrina and I are lucky enough to be with him to celebrate his birthday this year! As well as being a big NASCAR fan, he also races modifieds at a couple of tracks near his home town. I wanted to make him a card to reflect his love for the sport.
Last year I saw this great tutorial on ribbon weaving and thought it would be fun to make him a checkered flag card. I stored it away in my "Projects To Try" folder and remembered it just in time for his birthday. I modified the tutorial a bit to accommodate my 3/8" satin ribbon (the tutorial used 5/8" ribbon). I wanted the focus to be on the "flag", so I kept this card clean and simple. I showed the card to Dan to see what he thought of it and he said it looked like a chess board... hmmm.. so I cut several strips of black cardstock and glued them together (to raise it up to the level of the woven ribbons) and attached it on the side as the flag stick. Hopefully now it's obvious what it is!
Thanks for stopping by!
