Taylored Expressions August Spotlight Day: Butterfly Parade

Hello! Welcome to Taylored Expressions August Spotlight Day! All of the products that we have been previewing are available in the TE store! Need more inspiration? The Baker's Dozen has another day of projects highlighting our new stamps and dies!

Today I have a card using the new Butterfly Parade stamp set and the Butterfly in the Sky dies. Butterfly Parade was concepted by Wanda Guess, and it is a fun and beautiful set of fluttering butterflies. I love everything butterflies, so I was anxious to ink it up!

To create my layered butterfly, I embossed the two polka dot butterflies onto cream vellum, die cut and mounted them onto a solid die cut out of cardstock. Here's a detail shot.

Speaking of butterflies... this summer I had the chance to see part of a butterfly's transformation when we were in MN! My SIL Mary started by putting 3 caterpillars from her garden into a jar with some dill for them to eat. Within a few days, they were in the chrysalis stage. Unfortunately, they didn't transform until after we came home (and I wish that I had taken some photos of their progress). Mary did share photos of the butterflies before they flew away. Here's a photo of 2 of them (the small one still hadn't unfolded its wings yet). Nature is pretty amazing, isn't it?!
